Okay, i admit it ! maybe in terms of File format Supported and speed of development, K-Lite codec win, but in terms of popularity and "easybility" Winamp was the champion. Why i say like that ? lets see
Winamp have some funky sloga "It's really Whips The Llamas Ass", i didn't know what its true meaning but i think First team that developed this Legendary mp3 player want Winamp to KICK SOME ASS of the other Media Player at 1990 ( that Lame / llama ? )

but the sure things was : winamp was Revolutionize the Music Player secene at 1990, i Remember when i was in highschool , i  saw one of my friend opening some program from his PC desktop by clicking some Thunder icon ( familiar icon huh ? ) ..., and then some black and green program windows was sprung on the monitor. After that i saw my friend was clicking osme buttons on that program to choose some mp3 file on the computer, he even can choose multiple files at one time ! in that era playing music ( usually with "Windows Media Player" ) only can be done, by playing it one-by-one, with the boring white-square Windows media player program.

Using wanamp was totally different from using other Lame media player at that time, just clicking few intuitive  buttons , you can play full playlist of your favourite song, without the need to create Media library first ( altough you can , if you like ). Usability and popularity make Nullsoft team Software so easy to found from personal computer at your room, office computer at work, at the cafe as music player software , even at school and university computer.
